Give your graduates proof of skill that travels.

Microsoft Office Specialist is recognized by employers in 140+ countries. Embed it into your degree, diploma or youth program, and turn every graduate into a certified graduate with proof employers can verify.

The graduate employability gap
92%
of jobs analyzed in the US now require digital skills, yet employers can’t verify them from a degree alone. Certification is the layer that closes the gap between qualification and proof of skill.

Why this matters

Your graduates know it. Employers can’t see it.

A degree confirms what students studied. It doesn’t prove they can build a PivotTable, format a 50-page document or run a mail merge. Certification turns “studied Excel” into “Microsoft certified.”

Without certification

Graduates compete on claims, not proof.

Your students write “proficient in Microsoft Office” on every CV. So does every other graduate. Recruiters have no filter, and your alumni get sorted with the field.

  • “Proficient in MS Office” signals nothing to a recruiter
  • Verified skills have become the new filter, and your students don’t have them
  • Donor and accreditation reports rely on self-attested outcomes
  • Peer institutions are already adding industry certifications
With certification embedded

Graduates leave with verifiable, portable proof.

Every student earns Microsoft-issued certifications alongside your qualification. Recruiters in 140+ countries can verify them on Credly in 30 seconds. Funders get hard-evidence outcomes.

  • A Microsoft-backed certification on every graduate’s CV and LinkedIn
  • Globally portable and valid for five years
  • Hard-evidence outcomes for donor, ministry and accreditation reporting
  • A documented digital-fluency baseline that sets your institution apart

One certification can change everything.

How a single globally recognized certification turns a CV that says a student studied into proof they can do the work.

Why certification first

Five problems your graduates face. One answer: proof of skill.

Embedding certification into your programs gives every graduate an answer to the problems that follow them out of the gate.

A graduate in a job interview
1Unemployment

“I have a qualification, but no job.”

Certified graduates walk into interviews with Microsoft-backed proof of the skills every office job asks for, and your placement rates show it.

Qualified and certified.

2Internships

“I need experience to get experience.”

Students who certify before industrial attachment get handed real work from week one, and host employers ask for your students again.

3Entrepreneurship

“I want to build something of my own.”

Budgets, proposals and pitch decks are a new business’s first tools. Certified graduates can run the numbers and sell the idea.

4Deeper understanding

“We teach it, but we can’t prove they learned it.”

Performance-based exams test real tasks inside the software. Mapping them to your modules gives you an external measure of what students can actually do.

Three ways we work with you

Pick the delivery model that fits your campus.

Send your students to us, have us run sessions on your campus, or become your own testing center. Most institutions start with Model 1 and grow into Model 2 or 3 as their program scales.

1

Bulk voucher program

The simplest entry point
Buy vouchers in bulk at institutional pricing. Every voucher unlocks the official training. Students sit their exams at our Harare testing center or a Certiport Authorized Testing Center near them.
  • Institutional bulk pricing
  • Official training included with every voucher
  • Optional kickoff orientation for your cohort
  • Cohort completion reports
Best for: universities running one or two cohorts a semester, NGOs with short-cycle programs, and schools with a single annual cohort.
3

Testing center partnership

Become your own CATC
Your institution registers as a Certiport Authorized Testing Center (CATC), with Commsgate as your partner. Participating schools can register as a CATC for free. Run testing year-round on your own campus.
  • Your campus registered as a CATC
  • Commsgate handles the Certiport liaison and setup
  • Proctor onboarding and technical support
  • Open testing to your community as you grow
Best for: larger universities, polytechnic networks and institutes making certification core to their offer.

How institutions use this

Three real-world patterns.

💡 Note: these are anonymized representations of how institutions typically structure MOS rollouts. Named references are available on request under an MoU.
University · Business school

Embedding MOS into a business degree.

A regional business school made Excel Associate (MO-210) a graduation requirement for its Bachelor of Commerce. Every student certifies in second year through a credit-bearing Business Computing module.

Program: bulk vouchers plus on-campus orientation, 180 students per cohort, with the cost built into tuition. The school markets “100% MOS-certified graduates.”
NGO · Youth employability

Donor-grade outcomes for 500 young people.

A donor-funded program needed measurable digital-skill outcomes for 500 unemployed graduates in its final evaluation. Internal certificates wouldn’t meet the donor’s evidence threshold.

Program: campus testing across three city sites. 500 beneficiaries certify in Excel and PowerPoint over 12 months, with Credly badges and Microsoft certificates submitted as M&E evidence.
TVET · Polytechnic

Becoming the regional testing center.

A polytechnic with 2,500 students saw certification as both a student benefit and a community service: open testing to the public and become a regional digital-skills hub.

Program: testing center partnership. Year 1 certifies its own students; Year 2 opens to local employers and community candidates.
📊

Donor- and accreditation-ready reporting, as standard.

Every program delivers verifiable, dated, Microsoft-issued certifications per student or beneficiary: certificates, Credly verification links and audit trails. No self-attestation, just third-party-verifiable outcomes.

Where your students can certify

Available in 10 countries.

OneCertificationAway serves institutions across Southern Africa. Students sit their exams at a Certiport Authorized Testing Center, including on your own campus if you become one.

ZimbabweBotswanaEswatiniLesothoMadagascarMalawiMauritiusNamibiaSeychellesZambia

Can students take the exam online?

  • Online exams are offered only where there is no testing center nearby.
  • Online exams run on Compass Cloud and need a computer with a working webcam.
  • Candidates are responsible for their setup: power, internet or other interruptions during an online exam are the candidate’s liability.
How we work together

From first call to certified cohort.

A predictable five-step process. Institutional timelines run longer than corporate ones (procurement, MoUs, semester scheduling): typically 6 to 12 weeks from first call to first cohort.

1

Discovery

A 45-minute scoping call on program structure, cohort size, funding model, accreditation and timeline.

2

Program design

A proposal covering certifications, delivery model, curriculum fit, schedule, pricing and reporting, typically within 5 business days.

3

MoU and procurement

Signed MoU or service agreement, invoicing and procurement registration as needed.

4

Cohort delivery

Training unlocked, kickoff orientation, testing scheduled and exams sat. Your account manager runs point.

5

Outcome reporting

Per-cohort reports with pass rates, verification links and certificates, ready for donors and accreditation bodies.

Common questions

The things institutions actually ask.

Can MOS count toward academic credit at our institution?+
It can. Microsoft publishes college credit recommendations for some certifications, and many institutions map MOS objective domains to existing modules. The credit value depends on your accreditation framework (HEXCO, ZIMCHE, IB, Cambridge International and others). We’ll work with your academic registry on the mapping.
What does institutional pricing look like?+
Institutional pricing sits below retail and depends on volume, certification mix and delivery model. We structure it around your funding source: per-semester for tuition-funded programs, per-beneficiary for donor-funded ones, and aligned to grant disbursement cycles where needed. Request a proposal and we’ll send indicative numbers within 5 business days.
How does this work for donor-funded programs where beneficiaries don’t pay?+
We invoice the implementing partner (your NGO or institution), so beneficiaries pay nothing. We provide the dated, third-party-verifiable evidence donor M&E reports ask for: Credly badges, Microsoft-issued certificates, pass records and completion timestamps.
Can our institution become a testing center under its own name?+
Yes. That’s Model 3. Your institution registers as a Certiport Authorized Testing Center (CATC), and participating schools can register for free. Commsgate handles the Certiport relationship, technical setup, proctor onboarding and ongoing support, and you run testing year-round on your campus.
What does the procurement or MoU process look like?+
Universities and ministries usually run formal procurement (RFP or RFQ); we provide our Certiport Authorized Partner documentation for your supplier file. TVETs and private institutions more often use an MoU, and NGOs a service agreement. We have templates for each path and adapt to your institution’s norms.
Can our students compete in the MOS World Championship?+
Yes. Certiport runs the annual Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship. In Zimbabwe, students qualify through EPCON’s MOS World Championship track in Word, Excel or PowerPoint, and the best Junior Division competitors represent the country at the 2028 finals in the USA.
Can our own lecturers deliver the preparation?+
Yes. For Models 2 and 3 we offer a train-the-trainer pathway: your lecturers certify first, then lead structured preparation using the official LearnKey training. It keeps teaching in-house while protecting quality.
What about students in rural areas?+
We can run campus testing sessions at your rural sites or schedule regional testing days at a nearby hub. Where there’s no testing center at all, students can sit online on Compass Cloud with a webcam; candidates are liable for any power, internet or device interruptions on their side.
