PMI Project Management Ready is the Project Management Institute's own entry-level credential — the first rung on the ladder that ends at CAPM and PMP. Predictive planning, agile frameworks and business analysis, proven by exam.
PMI & Certiport — official Project Management Ready overview
Project Management Ready covers four domains — deliberately spanning both traditional and agile ways of working, because real projects rarely use just one.
The vocabulary, the lifecycle, the roles. What a project actually is, and what separates it from business-as-usual.
Predictive planning — scope, schedule, budget, risk. The structured approach that still runs construction, engineering and government delivery.
Iterative delivery, adaptive planning, and the mindset behind Scrum and Kanban. How modern software and product teams actually work.
Requirements, stakeholders and value. Understanding what the business actually needs before anyone starts building it.
Domain weightings are set by PMI and may be revised between exam versions. Check the current objective document before you sit.
Not a third-party course certificate. The Project Management Institute is the global body behind PMP — the credential that defines the profession. This is their entry point.
PMP requires years of documented project experience. Project Management Ready doesn't — it's how you start building the record while you're still early in your career.
Most entry credentials pick a side. This one covers both — which is what employers actually need, because most organizations run a mix.
Project Management Ready is built for people entering the profession — not for people who already have a decade behind them.
Pass the exam and the Project Management Institute issues the certificate directly — signed by the Chair of the Board and the President & CEO, under the seal of the Institute. Not a course completion slip. A global credential.
It states exactly what you were evaluated on, and it's verifiable by any employer at verify.certiport.com.

Pick the option that matches how confident you are. Training is free either way.
Bought separately: voucher $75 + retake $45 + practice tests $40 = $160. The complete bundle is $135 — you save $25.
PMI Project Management Ready is the anchor of two Certiport career pathways. Both cost less per certification than buying them singly — and both unlock SkillUp Pro free.
Project leadership with the technical and communication credentials to match — plan delivery, talk to engineers, and lead a room.
Coordinate projects and people — project-management fundamentals, full Microsoft Office fluency, and the communication skills to deliver.
No. That's the whole point of it. PMI's flagship credential, PMP, requires years of documented project experience — which is a wall if you're just starting. Project Management Ready has no experience prerequisite. It's designed as the entry point for students, graduates and career-switchers.
It's the first rung. Project Management Ready proves the foundations; CAPM is the next step for those with some exposure; PMP is the senior credential requiring documented experience. Starting here means you're building the record from day one rather than waiting.
$75 is the exam voucher on its own. $99 adds a retake if you don't pass first time. $115 adds practice tests instead — most candidates choose this, because practising under exam conditions is the single biggest lift to pass rates. $135 is everything.
If you bought the $99 or $135 option, your retake is already included — you sit again at no extra cost. Otherwise you can add a retake voucher for $45 at any time before your exam.
Both. One of the four domains is dedicated to agile frameworks and methodologies, and another to traditional plan-based approaches. That's deliberate — most organizations run a hybrid, and employers want people who can operate in either.

It's a free membership — no fee, nothing to subscribe to. It unlocks automatically when you buy any pathway bundle or any Mastery Challenge. For one year from that purchase, every additional à-la-carte voucher is 25% off. À-la-carte purchases on their own don't unlock it.
